Introduction
The American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association released the Guideline on the Treatment of Blood Cholesterol to Reduce Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Risk in Adults on November 12, 2013.1 Are these new cholesterol guidelines perfect? No. Are they an improvement for the decade old guidelines? Yes. Much has happened in the field of cholesterol lowering for the purposes of reducing cardiovascular risk in the past decade.
